Goals for Writing Next Year

       It is kind of hard for me to make goals for next year because of everything I improved upon this year. Although there is something that always needs improving. So with knowing that the number one thing that needs improving is sentence variation. This is a goal that will entail variating sentence beginnings and sentence lengths. Another goal for next year is to stop repeating things that I have already said more than once. Sometimes it is good to repeat an idea to get your point across but, I have a habit of repeating it more than twice. The last goal I have is to stop writing fragments and use comma splices when they are necessary.

Potriat

       I am a writer who likes to express my feeling and emotions through my writing. I wouldn't be DJ without putting a little bit of my mind into all of my writings. DJ is a writer who writes when he is in a comfort zone in the dark watching tv. It is harder for me to write in the middle of the day.  My best work is written in the dark when I am half sleep. I think when I am half sleep, my mind is programmed to think if you write it correctly and fast the first time you can go to sleep which motivates me.  The writer whose name is Dominic is a powerful, influential writer who writes to let out anger when I am not writing an essay for school. It is hard for me to express my feelings, so I write about them and, it makes me feels so much better after the fact.  Last but not least I am a writer who gets easily offended when people give their opinion on something that came from the heart and only describes me. When writing this is the kind of author that I am.

Improvements I Can Make as A Writer

       Even though I have many strengths as I writer, I also have many weaknesses I need to improve on.  On of my weaknesses is sentence variation. Sometimes when writing it is hard for me to have different sentence beginnings when trying to explain one idea on a topic.  Another weakness that shall be no more is repeating things I said already. I have a habit of repeating a sentence more than once while trying to make my paragraph more lengthy. Another weakness is the lack of comma splices. For me, it is hard to detect when I need a comma splice or have a run-on sentence. So therefore when checking over my essay, I would find that out that I have multiple run-on sentences.

Strengths as a Writer

        As a writer, I feel as if I have many abilities when I'm typing or writing a paper. My number one strength is my ability to show the reader vivid details. Writing is a form of me expressing my feelings so therefore I have the will power stay on topic with my writings. Another strength I have when writing is paraphrasing and not plagiarizing. It is important not to copy word right from another site; so I put it in my words and keep the meaning and significance of what the text was saying. When writing a paper, I have a way of connecting everything I write to the subject of the essay. When doing this, it makes my transitions stronger to lead the paper on to new ideas. The most critical strength that I have gained over the year is word choice and variation. I Have obtained a way for me to use different words and rearrange a sentence to have the same meaning but, use stronger words. This way the whole sentence would be stronger, and more clear.

What have I learned about myself as a writer?

       This year I have learned a lot about myself as a writer. Looking back at this year I have realized that I am an influential writer. That is when  I enjoy what I am writing about something that I am interested in.. When given a topic that is required for me to write it seems harder for me to write about that theme. Although when I choose a topic such as the Thirty Years' War. When writing about a subject, I select the idea, or the message of the writing piece is more visible. There has been a lot of things that I have improved on such as my transitions to another paragraph. Another thing is word choice. Sometimes I choose the easy way out by writing like a first grader and this year I have broken out of that habit by using a stronger synonym to every word I can find one. Last but not least I have improved my sentence fluency most of all. Sentence fluency has made me a stronger writer and will continue to do so. Sentence fluency is the one thing that I can do without any ones help.

Writing Center

       The writing center visit for the second semester was a wonderful way to improve my writing on the research paper. When I went to the writing center, I went to we focused on mostly trying to find all my errors. When we did this it wasn't just the writing fellow talking your ear off; it was an idea of your trying to see how to make your paper better. So after I read my paper, I realized I was missing a lot of embedded quotations. So embedding my quotes is a hard thing to remember. Although when I worked on embedding my quotes with another person, it seems to stick to my mind more and going through the paper I could remember to embed quotes by myself. Another thing we focused on was transitions. Sometimes I lack transitions when they are needed the most and have them when I don't need them. So I was able to switch them and make them stronger. Then my piece was better and made more sense to where it got a good grade.
