The fast, ferocious waves hit the beach
while the beach is covering in the heat
The little children were running around like mice
A popsicle would have been nice
While trying to keep cool
The beach was like a public pool
The sizzling on the sun burnt
While the drops of the water cooled burns
With people that were hungry were in a line
A line to get food that extended to about the moon
I enjoyed poetry, and I feel this poem helped portray my poetic qualities to the fullest. One reason I like this poem is that everyone can relate to it no matter your background.
The part-time Indian was very unfortunate because of the situations he would be in at the time. Although sometimes he put himself in those situations. In most of the chapters, it is about how hated he is by many people. He does not have any friends and has to go to his grandmother for advice. Also, I know he felt some way when Penelope said, "Do I even know you?" That's pretty sad the girl you like does not even know your name.
I honestly do not see why anyone does not feel sorry for him. He has no self-esteem and feels like he does not belong in the world. He is a big laughing stock of his school. While people make racists jokes, he takes it. He should try to take up for himself and make himself known. Other kids are bullies, and I know you want a better education, but I think you should stay on the reservation.
One quality I improved as a reader was my comprehension. I feel this piece showed that I had a complete understanding of the book we were reading.
One word that I have mastered over the weeks of doing vocabulary.com is annihilate, Which means to kill in large numbers. I knew what the word meant basically. I just didn't know that it had to be many people for you to annihilate, not just one person. Also, I had no idea that you spell annihilate that way. The next word is pummel. Most people know the definition of pummel which means to strike usually with a fist.
Although most people pronounce and spell it wrong. The would spell it as if you were saying pumble and thats how people would spell it. The next word I learned is equestrian. Equestrian is of or related to horseback riding. I would get this word confused because it sounds like it is water related or a sea animal.
Practicing vocabulary on vocabulary.com this whole school year has helped me greatly improve my diction.
Misses
When learning how to write a good research paper I have found out that a good research paper is not descriptive. A good research is an argument. Not a weak argument, it is usually with much evidence and thing to back up your argument. Most likely when you do a descriptive it will be boring but when you have an argument the readers will disagree or agree. This will keep your reader steady thinking about your view of the argument.
One thing i am having trouble on and would like to fix is embedding my quotes. I feel it is difficult for me to embed quotes when it is in the middle or the end of a sentence. The question about it is where do you put the author when the quote is not at the end of the sentence. Although once I have that covered my Paper will be flawless.
It has been hard this year when I am given a specific topic. When I am given a certain topic I ramble to make it 2 paragraphs.
The song "Umbrella" has a rhyme scheme of ABAB and it makes the song catchier. When using the rhyme scheme ABAB it is common for wrappers or singers to make the song flow betters and sound better. In this particular song there are internal rhymes and end rhymes. The purpose of this song was for entertainment purposes but also gets deep. When the song comes to an end it becomes a free verse.
Also in the song they use a lot of repetition to get their point across. Also lots of imagery because it makes you think a person is standing in the rain. Although there is a person that you love with an umbrella and then they invite you under the umbrella. You can interpret this as that I can trust you to protect me from any harm or danger. So the other purpose of this song was to express the felling of love.
This was complicated because at the time of analyzing the song I just had started to learn how to analyze a text. Although now I can do this now with no problem.
I have learned a lot about myself as student. Things like I am a hard working, determined student. Although I am a procrastinator. When I get home work I wait until the last minute to do it but end up finishing it. Next quarter goals are to not procrastinate at moments notice. Also I have learned that I can no longer listen to things and understand what you are saying in the classroom. I am a visual learner and learn best that way.
This last thing that I have had trouble with is time management. I am constantly distracted by other things that I shouldn't be and it takes time from me doing work. This semester I have to ave time management while not getting distracted . If i can fix these problems I have I can be more successful in the fourth quarter.
As you can see when I am given a topic, I don't focus on it. Instead, I talk about other things that are not related.
